I can't think of any reason that FFS would use the last access timestamp for anything, so can't see any reason why it would matter. But makes me wonder if maybe he was having power issues? Maybe plugged them all into the same dodgy powerboard or something? It is strange that it happened for 3 drives at once. FreeFileSync has a simple layout, and you move, resize, detach or even disable its various panels at any time, and then reset the interface to its default state. I'm not sure how software could do that, especially if it's not running as root/administrator. Again and again, a very weird sound never heard this from an external HDD before. When FreeFileSync copied the data to that HDD, somewhere in half of the data the harddisk started to squeak and make a sound like a cricket. If it's just that one person having issues, probably not FFS's fault though. Are there more threads reporting similar issues? If it was a bug in FFS, then there would be. Bit of a shame, because it'd be more popular otherwise, probably could even make it to Ninite. It allows users to create and manage backup copies of files. Feel free to untick it during the installation process. Conduit Search Protect FeeFileSync tries to install Conduit Search Protect, which is known malware. won't allow it on Chocolatey and stuff like that. FreeFileSync is an open-source file/folder comparison and synchronization software. FreeFileSync is a pretty good file sync program, as long as you’re okay with using batch files for scheduled tasks. The author is a bit weird about letting other people package it, i.e. Great software overall, especially how powerful the interface is for previewing changes before you actually execute them. ![]() I've used it for like 10+ years, on heaps of different computers under both Windows + Linux, and never had any problems with it. Just make sure to tag the post with the flair and give a little background info/context. On Fridays we'll allow posts that don't normally fit in the usual data-hoarding theme, including posts that would usually be removed by rule 4: “No memes or 'look at this '”
